Counseling: since 1973 — trained on the federal, regional, state and local level for crisis counseling, youth counseling, ongoing counseling, family counseling. Worked two years as a volunteer counselor for youth, families, and street people 1973 and 1980; employed as Program Coordinator (Director) of Ozone House 1977-1980, responsible for shared supervision of counseling staff. Received supervision by staff M.S.W. for two years while on staff, also responsible for training volunteer counselors and paid staff which included participating in developing training materials, arranging for special trainings, and being a trainer for more than 40 trainings with more than 1000 individuals 1977-1981, and occasionally for the next few years. Began teaching in 1973.

 

Doula and Labor Support since 1981 — informal training with lay midwives, involved with over 200 births. Provided a range of services including prenatal bodywork and support, labor support, assistance with delivery, cranialsacral therapy before, during and after labor, nursing support, and post partum bodywork. Taught prenatal and infant massage, presented at national midwifery conference.

 

Religious and Spiritual Studies:  Since 1980 — workshops, conferences, and retreats with teachers including Marilyn Ferguson, Thich Nhat Hanh, Bernie Siegal, Jean Houston, Joseph Chilton Pierce, H.H. The Dalai Lama. Attended the 8th Annual International Human Unity Conference, Vancouver B.C. Attended the Centennial Parliament of the World’s Religions, Chicago IL.  Founded and coordinated a lecture series with a spiritual and holistic focus for over 200 programs with local and nationally known speakers including Galek Rinpoche, Larry Brilliant, Susun Weed, Patch Adams, and numerous others 1986-1993. Have presided at weddings, births, initiations, and numerous other rituals.

 

Music: Since 1966 — classes and workshops in Ithaca NY, Ann Arbor MI, and throughout the country including studies in guitar, piano, violin, percussion, and voice. Began teaching in 1972.

Employed by the Ann Arbor Public Schools, Adult Community Education and Recreation, teaching Polarity Therapy (1989-92) and Couples Massage (1989 to 1996).

Trained thirteen apprentices, 1984 - 1997 

Consultant to small businesses on a part time basis, primarily in the area of staff training, 1982 to 1992.

Founder and coordinator of a weekly (for six years) and then twice monthly (for three years) all volunteer public lecture series on topics of Holistic Health and transformation. Responsible for all aspects of coordinating workshops, retreats, and musical events with as many as 180 participants. 1986 to 1993.

Beginning in 1982 have regularly taught classes, workshops, and seminars on topics of holistic health care, with more than 150 topic titles. Regular invited guest speaker locally and nationally for schools, organizations, and groups.

Coordinator for "The Bodyworkers Group" of Ann Arbor; an informational, training, and support group for bodyworkers, 1982-4.

Participated extensively in revising, developing, and presenting training material for Ozone House Inc., and was a trainer in over 40 new worker and in-service trainings, representing more than 2000 hours of experience as a trainer, 1973 to 1981 and occasionally thereafter.
